Marking a Client as a No-Show
If a client does not show up for their appointment, you should change the status of the appointment to No-Show in the Appointment Book. Marking missed appointments as no-shows allows you to:
- Accurately track when clients fail to show up for an appointment, providing your business with the opportunity to book a new appointment in place of the no-show via the MA202: Hours Available to Sell report.
- Charge a no-show fee that is a configured percentage of the service cost. All no-show appointments appear in the Cancel/No-Show list in the register. In that list, you can select the appointment and process the no-show fee.
Tip: Enable the Automatically mark appointments as no-show option in Appointment Business Preferences to automatically toggle missed appointments to no-shows. You can always manually change the status should the client arrive late.
How do I configure a no-show fee?
The no-show fee percentage can be configured in Appointment Business Preferences.
Can I change the status of a past no-show appointment?
Yes, you can un-no-show an appointment from any time in the past, as long as the appointment has not been checked out. Once a no-show appointment is checked out, the no-show cannot be undone.
Can I hide no-show appointments from the Appointment Book?
Yes! To hide no-show appointments from the Appointment Book, select Filters and deselect Display No Shows.
Can I book a new appointment in place of the no-show appointment?
Yes! Some notes on booking over a no-show appointment:
- Booking a new appointment in the No Show appointment time does not trigger a double-book warning.
- The Scan for Opening feature treats the No Show appointment time as bookable.
Do employees receive commission on no-show fees?
For the purpose of employee commissions, the no-show fee essentially becomes the service price, and commission is calculated based on that fee and the employee's regular service commission rate.
