Setting Up an Employee's Earnings

Be sure to review our Getting Started with Payroll topic before you proceed with setting up employee earnings and commission in Meevo.

Note: If you anticipate configuring identical payroll options for several employees, we recommend taking advantage of Employee Templates to quickly apply Payroll tab settings to a profile.

To get to the Employee Payroll tab

  1. Locate and select the Employee profile.
  2. Select the Payroll tab and select Edit.

Wages

Note: If you enter both a salary and hourly rate in these options, Meevo will calculate both values and pay the employee the higher amount of the two.

  1. Salary per Payroll: Flat amount the employee receives per pay period, regardless of hours worked.
  2. Base hourly rate: Hourly rate for the employee per pay period.

Service Commission

With service commission, you have the option to include or exclude certain elements from the total. The employee's service commission will also be applied to no-show and cancellation fees, if applicable. Retail, package, and membership commission are always included in the total, as are tips.

  1. Commission Scale: Commission scales pay out a certain percentage to an employee depending on the "tier" of sales revenue the employee is credited. Go here for an explanation of these scales.
  2. Employee Pay Calculation: Determines what goes into an employee's payroll.
  • Commission Only: The employee receives only service commission. Commission is based on the Percent configured in step 3 below.
  • Salary/Hourly Wage AND Commission: The employee is paid the higher among the following:

Salary per Payroll + Service Commission

or

(Work Activity Override Rate x Override Hours1) + (Base Hourly Rate x Non-override Hours2) + Service Commission

1: These are the hours the employee worked under that specific override Work Activity.

2: These are the hours that the employee worked under a Work Activity that does not have an override associated with it.

  • Salary/Hourly Wage OR Commission: The employee is paid the highest among the following:

Salary per Payroll

or

(Work Activity Override Rate x Override Hours1) + (Base hourly rate x Hours)

1: These are the hours the employee worked under that specific override Work Activity.

or

Service Commission

  1. Percent: The commission percentage of service sales that the employee receives.

Retail Commission

  1. Commission Scale: Choose the employee's retail commission scale. Go here for an explanation of commission scales.
  2. Minimum Service Sales: Retail commission is given to the employee only when the employee's service sales are equal to or greater than this value.
  3. Percent: The commission percentage of retail sales that employee receives.

Percent Retail to Service Commission

This offers a bonus to employees whose retail-to-service percentage falls into any of the defined retail-to-service sales ranges.

This setting is paid out according to your Retail payroll frequency. To calculate this percentage, Meevo compares all service sales during the Retail payroll period against all retail sales during the same payroll period. The retail-to-service percentage is then calculated as: (Retail sales during Retail payroll period / Service sales during retail payroll period) x 100

When a target retail-to-service sales percentage is achieved, the employee receives a percentage of the retail sales amount. This bonus is paid in addition to the retail commission configured above, and this is always a tiered straight scale. Go here for more on Percent Retail to Service commission.
